One of the really intrusive aspects of a more commercial Christmas these days is the tidal wave of catalogs that hits in the late fall. Each year, I am more annoyed by the waste and the manipulation these objects represent in my life. Driving from Selma to Crawfordville the day after Thanksgiving, I heard a great segment on All Things Considered about an environmental organization that is taking this head on. Their webpage is Catalogchoice. On this site, you can take the steps to opt out of catalogs you are receiving but wish you weren't. I have already registered over 20 catalogs I'm opting out of. It has been a rather lovely advent discipline. I hope you will join me in taking this step. At least check them out and see what they are doing...
